Songs SUBMITTED IN VIDEO FORMAT ONLY (for uploads to video platforms you DO NOT need a theatrical music video - audio with lyrics or even screen with your artist name on will suffice) must be original in music and lyrics. NO Covers, re-arrangements/ interpolations, remixes or samples are permitted.

There is a $35 registration (donation) fee. The fees will go toward technology, staff, live streaming production expenditures, and net proceeds to fund the aftercare for trafficked survivors.

ONE! Your best ONE! To qualify, Songwriters must submit only ONE SONG of their own copyrighted or published music. The song submission cannot be changed from the beginning of the competition until the close…. ( so consider your choice carefully, as it is common to think your last song is your most brilliant work of art)

However, if your recording is being improved or you are in the process of enhancing with the production of a music video, your submission can be replaced by the same song, only.

Every submission must have all clean lyrical content in script on the video that the artist submits (like closed caption lower third) and also to be used for the description box below in Rumble.

We will not discriminate or disqualify Spiritual or Religious music. If you are looking for a separate genre of spiritual or religious musicality, it does not exist within the Original Artist platform. If you consider yourself in a descriptive category within spiritual or religious genres such as Gospel, Christian, Jewish, Nasheed, Worship, Prophetic, celebratory, or ANY other Spiritual musical styles, you must qualify yourself within the four categories. We do not have a separate genre for spiritual or worship artists. i.e. if you are a ‘“Gospel Artist” and your musicality is that of an Indie Rock sound - then submit your music in the Rock category.

Your music should be clean. Ideally, your lyrical descriptives shouldn’t be so filthy that it makes our heads explode. We could accept some strong descriptives — for instance, if you know you would play your song for Nanna and be proud…then you probably wouldn’t need to edit out those adjectives.

Just use your good sense and morals to edit out, re-record, or ‘beep’ out any vile, foul language AND visual depictions. Either way, the submission team will determine the level of any unacceptable depictions and/ or nasty lyrics and advise whether your content is acceptable and what revisions to be made if so.

If you had spent a great deal of time and money in the studio and your recording is outstanding, and you have strong curse words in the content, this must be edited out.

The same goes for a video submission. If there are any violent, or provocative sexual scenes in your video artistry, this also must be edited out of the video file.

The public will vote for their favorite song in EACH genre category by purchasing the song for $1. Likes in the form of Rumbles will also be calculated into the factoring as votes. The Original Artist can also obtain more votes though their own Merchandise sales that will be calculated into the measure to determine the winners of the final rounds.

The artist has the ability to rally as many votes as possible through 16 weeks until the final competition rounds that are determined through a live streaming broadcast featuring the TOP 4 submissions per genre. The live stream event performances are part of the process that narrows the best Original Artists down to the top 16 contestants and they will be presented in a live streaming event performance. At this stage, the Original Artists will compete with a clean voting slate, and the top 16 (4 per genre) will be voted on through immediate text votes ++

Once the contest closes the voting on ___________ , the program director team tallies the votes, download, sales, and merchandise sales to determine the TOP 4 PER GENRE - 16 TOTAL artists in total to perform at the Original Artist showcase in Sarasota FL on __________. The finals are showcased as a live streaming event featuring two separate stages for seamless performances (artist sets up on one stage while other competing artist is performing on the spotlight stage. )

Original Artist is a music platform and charity event fundraiser that provide great songwriters the opportunity to have their music heard and gain more listeners/fans while discovering how marketable their music is to a broad audience. This platform event is not created for mainstream or major label artists with a substantially sized audience and sales.

Artists that are already signed by a major or revenue performing label ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER> This competitive opportunity is for the Original Artist that has not yet had their career break in the “music industry”

Original Artist celebrates the songwriter artistry performing THEIR OWN music in raw form without the enhancement of outside forces and influences including the power or influence of favoring relatives or friends (nepotism) to gain success, without the favor of renowned big money producers, daddy’s money , to improve their marketability. Original Artists will be able to compete with out skewed enhancements from digital technology such as vocal/pitch corrections (i.e. throat evo, autotune, fabfilters, ) resulting in studio “over-producing” erasing the true artistry of the songwriter and their performance.

After reading sub genre descriptions under Country, Rock, Urban, and Latin, then considering other sub-genres through research, decide where you belong.

If you consider your song is Pop, or a love/Romance, or ballad-like ,you will most likely belong under the ROCK category. Historical song examples of these in Rock would include "Better Together"—Jack Johnson "Iris"—Goo Goo Dolls."More Than Words"—Extreme "Is This Love"—Whitesnake "With Or Without You"—U2

Other tip: If your pop or love song sounds great as a country song and you believe that it will win the hearts of the country music lover, then either record a country-like arrangement or twang it up.

Electronic, Folk, and K-pop sounds could also belong under the ROck category.

What should my video and audio submission look and sound like?

It depends on what you have prepared and how serious you are about having your music go viral for the most votes. For instance, If you were filmed at a live gig or concert performing your MUSIC, then submit that.

If you are playing guitar sitting on the bed with your dog, then submit that.

If you are performing your song while dancing in your room along with a track, then submit that.

If you don’t want to be seen, but have excellent mixed studio production that you would compete with, then submit that. (just remember visuals are powerful and the live streaming video show will feature the finalists, so you would eventually be seen)

Obviously if you have a full on savvy music video or performance that will draw viewers and voters, then submit that.
